Partly it comes from my memories of the childhood – I have a picture in my head of my Dad who had an analog camera Zenit TTL and was taking pictures of my family in the 80's.
All of the images were obviously black and white.
It was around at the end of this period that my first attempt was to take my own photos. I have these few prints in a memory box in the attic, neatly sorted in a small photo album. A couple of mountains landscapes,
images of trees.
I can still remember this thrill and touch of magic when my Dad and I brought up images in our tiny kitchen arranged as a darkroom. Smell of chemicals in the air, a red light bulb and the rows of drying, black and white photos on the string running across the kitchen above our heads. I was mesmerized by the process and waited in absolute stillness, leaning over one of the tubs, to see the image emerging from the void of whiteness of the paper.

Wszystko. Dają chwilę odprężenia mózgowi, który jest nieustannie bombardowany zewsząd barwami i wzorami. Kontrast zapewnia największą różnicę między tonami i podkreśla szczegóły zdjęcia. Gra światła i cienia odsłania istotę podmiotu.
W czarno-białych obrazach jest też coś bardzo autentycznego i prostego. Najlepsze ujęcia czarno-białe są czyste, wręcz minimalistyczne. Brak kolorów sprawia, że przekaz jest mocniejszy, emocje bardziej wyeksponowane, a odbiorca jeszcze bardziej zaangażowany.
Fotografie czarno-białe nie są podstawą mojej fotografii. Zwykle szukam kolorów, które sprawiają, że jestem po prostu szczęśliwsza i bardziej ożywiona. Są jednak chwile, kiedy czuję, że to konkretne zdjęcie trzeba wykonać i pokazać tylko w ten określony sposób.

Zawsze fascynowały mnie czarno-białe fotografie.
Częściowo wynika to ze wspomnień z dzieciństwa - utkwił mi w głowie widok Taty, który miał analogowy aparat Zenit TTL i robił zdjęcia rodzinie w latach 80-tych. Wszystkie zdjęcia były oczywiście czarno-białe.
Pod koniec tego czasu podjęłam swoją pierwszą próbę zrobieniu własnych zdjęć. Wciąż mam kilka odbitek w pudełku na pamiątki na poddaszu, porządnie posortowanych w małym albumie ze zdjęciami. Kilka górskich krajobrazów, zdjęcia drzew.
Nadal pamiętam ten dreszczyk emocji i dotyk magii, kiedy mój tata i ja wywoływaliśmy zdjęcia w naszej małej kuchni zaaranżowanej na ciemnię. Zapach chemii w powietrzu, czerwona żarówka i rzędy suszących się, czarno-białych zdjęć na sznurku biegnącym nad naszymi głowami. Byłam zahipnotyzowana tym procesem i czekałam w absolutnej ciszy, pochylona nad jedną z kuwet, aby zobaczyć obraz wyłaniający się z pustki bieli papieru.
